New Sounds gathers researchers from all over the world to debate issues concerning the acquisition of second/foreign language sounds (speech perception and production). The 2007 edition also aims to continue the tradition of the New Sounds symposiums organized by Allan James and Jonathan Leather at the Universities of Amsterdam and Klagenfurt in 1990, 1992, 1997, and 2000. We would even like to suggest that we take advantage of this event to consider the organization of an international New Sounds association, to guarantee the occurrence of New Sounds symposiums at regular intervals in the future.
