Proceedings : Guidelines for Formatting Papers
- Font: Times New Roman, 12, single spaced, justified paragraph, A4 (letter size) paper. - Boldface should be used only in titles (sections, subsections, tables, figures, graphs). - Number of pages – minimum: 4, maximum: 15. - References and citations: according to APA style. Examples:

Citations: According to Trask (1996, p. 330), speech perception is a decoding activity which consists of the extraction of “identifiable linguistic elements from the continuous acoustic signal of speech”. ... Empirical studies on speech perception started to be published in the late 1940s, and they soon revealed that the segments present in the speech signal did not have a simple corresponding perceptual unit, as hypothesized by phoneticians and phonologists (Strange, 1995).
- The document should be saved in Word for Windows (.doc) and the authors should also send the phonetic fonts used in the paper. - File name: first author's last name in CAPS - hyphen - first context word of the title capitalizing only the first letter. Example: BOHN-Production. - The papers should be sent to newsounds@cce.ufsc.br. We'll send authors an e-mail confirming that we received the file(s). In case you do not hear from the organizing committee within 2 working days after having sent the paper, please contact us to make sure we received it. We will also announce the list of received papers on our website. - DEADLINE for submitting papers: February 4, 2008. Note: Please do not worry about very specific formatting rules! It is enough to follow the guidelines above. The proceedings (with ISBN) will be available online only, at http://www.nupffale.ufsc.br/newsounds/proceedings.
